Wedding related
So I picked up my dress today. It was a long wait from when I ordered it in February. I thought in my head I would put it on and it would fit like a glove..not so much. Even though I had my measurements taken it was still a little ill-fitting and while the dress is still my favorite, I am a little disappointed that I have to take it in for more alterations. It's a good thing I still have 3 months to go! I decided in March that I would stop obsessing and planning for the wedding as it was making me crazy and I'm sure those around me felt the same. I really needed the mental break but, now I'm a little behind as there are only 13 weeks until show time!

Wedding updates
I started filling out a blog on our chapel website but thought this would be a better place so I am transferring the early entries;
Feb. 28th
I went on my first dress shopping adventure yesterday and it was challenging and exhausting. I went to two bridal shops and tried on plenty of dresses which I am glad I did. The dresses online do NOT look the same when you put them on. There were some really great ones and some really not so great ones and at about 8:00pm, I found one I really liked. Maybe it was the exhaustion, maybe it was really the one. As soon as I get it squared away I can focus on other details, thankfully. Who knew that picking a wedding dress could be so stressful! I posted some of the "fail" dresses, I will save the other dress to be seen live and in person on my wedding day :) Parker was the photographer and apparently she felt the need to be-head me in most of the photos.

How do you chose a dress? I have spent hours online trying to figure out which style, material, neckline, etc I want. And of course, I have also found out that if you aren't willing to spend a small fortune on a wedding dress, you will look ugly on your special day. That's right, I think some wedding dress manufacturer makes select ugly wedding dresses that do not cost a lot of money on purpose. They must get some kick-back from the pretty wedding dress manufacturers. Because of their ugly dresses, women are forced to dig deeper in their pockets so they don't look like they borrowed their mothers dress from the 60's. I am trying on dresses tomorrow, it is my first hands-on experience so I hope it goes well. We only have a couple of options in my town so my hands-on experience will be short lived. I will be sure to let you know how it went.

From the day Dustin proposed (about two weeks ago) 'til today, my head has been spinning. Feelings of excitement and overwhelming craziness have consumed me, especially when I found out that Dustin wanted to get married this summer! "How hard can it be" he says "We're good at throwing parties".... I quickly began to figure out details and budget numbers and from the start I realized that a wedding would set us back the equivalent of about 26.6 Pomeranian puppies. I can't spend that type of money on nuptials, not that they aren't important, there are just other things that are MORE important in our lives (functioning plumbing, Sydney's college....my college) So here we are, planning a small and fun wedding in Las Vegas! Just to bring you up to speed, we booked our flight, hotel and chapel yesterday. Stay tuned.....

Wasting Vulable Time
Well, it's that time of year again where the Peregrine Falcons nest down town. The best part; it's on a live feed video stream, the worst part; I spend hours staring at the birds and they don't really move. Hours I tell ya. I can't look away because I might miss one little thing. I need an intervention. Good thing this only happens once a year for a short period of time. Here, let me share this obsession with you; http://peregrinefund.org/webcam-peregrine

Brace Face
Here I sit with a mouth full of braces. 36 years old, grumpy from the pain, starving, and $150.00 poorer from the juicer I had to buy to survive. What was I thinking? Did I need them to make me look younger? (I have been carded more often) Did I need to make my brace wearing teenager feel better about her braces? Did I just think I had thousands of dollars to burn? Who knows, the decision falls somewhere between self esteem and chronic headaches. So here I sit, trying to eat lunch, starving for a bagel sandwich. I have had my braces for 4 weeks and if I could go back, I would laugh at the dentists and say NOPE. My diet has changed drastically and it consists of juice, soup and anything non-brace threatening. Through trial and error I discover that the foods listed on my "DO NOT EAT" sheet are there for a reason. But, I am a rebel of sorts and tried to ignore the list, this is what I came up with; Candy/caramel - nope, Steak - nope, Carrots - nope, Popcorn - nope, Apples - nope, Lettuce - nope, Pickles - nope, Bread of any kind - nope, Bloody marys and red wine - not if I want my rubber bands to look clean, Sushi - nope nope nope. Here is what I found I CAN eat; soup, juice, bananas, refried or black beans (not the entire delicious burrito, just the beans on the inside) hamburger - no bun - no toppings, yogurt, ice cream and a few other soft foods here and there. It's a form of torture I've decided. They should put braces on detainees in Guantanamo Bay and tighten them each day until they talk! I will leave you know with this thought, the inventor of braces most definitely shared a college flat with the inventor of algebra...
Terrible Blogger
As I am obviously a terrible blogger, I am also a person who has entertaining stories to tell so I apologize to any readers for keeping my amusing life to my self. When I do sit down to write an entry it is because someone has said to me "where are the new Parker stories?" or it is because I have had something on my mind long enough for me to think; oh, I could write this down. I will make a small, meek, irrelevant effort to do more blogging.
