I started filling out a blog on our chapel website but thought this would be a better place so I am transferring the early entries;

I went on my first dress shopping adventure yesterday and it was
challenging and exhausting. I went to two bridal shops and tried on
plenty of dresses which I am glad I did. The dresses online do NOT look
the same when you put them on. There were some really great ones and
some really not so great ones and at about 8:00pm, I found one I really
liked. Maybe it was the exhaustion, maybe it was really the one. As soon
as I get it squared away I can focus on other details, thankfully. Who
knew that picking a wedding dress could be so stressful! I posted some
of the "fail" dresses, I will save the other dress to be seen live and
in person on my wedding day :) Parker was the photographer and
apparently she felt the need to be-head me in most of the photos.

How do you chose a dress? I have spent hours online trying to figure out
which style, material, neckline, etc I want. And of course, I have also
found out that if you aren't willing to spend a small fortune on a
wedding dress, you will look ugly on your special day. That's right, I
think some wedding dress manufacturer makes select ugly wedding dresses
that do not cost a lot of money on purpose. They must get some kick-back
from the pretty wedding dress manufacturers. Because of their ugly
dresses, women are forced to dig deeper in their pockets so they don't
look like they borrowed their mothers dress from the 60's. I am trying
on dresses tomorrow, it is my first hands-on experience so I hope it
goes well. We only have a couple of options in my town so my hands-on
experience will be short lived. I will be sure to let you know how it
went.

From the day Dustin proposed (about two weeks ago) 'til today, my head
has been spinning. Feelings of excitement and overwhelming craziness
have consumed me, especially when I found out that Dustin wanted to get
married this summer! "How hard can it be" he says "We're good at
throwing parties".... I quickly began to figure out details and budget
numbers and from the start I realized that a wedding would set us back
the equivalent of about 26.6 Pomeranian puppies. I can't spend that type
of money on nuptials, not that they aren't important, there are just
other things that are MORE important in our lives (functioning plumbing,
Sydney's college....my college) So here we are, planning a small and
fun wedding in Las Vegas! Just to bring you up to speed, we booked our
flight, hotel and chapel yesterday. Stay tuned.....
